NEW BLOG

NEW BLOG UNVEILED!!!

At last! The (whole) Harris has joined the blogging nation - I am no longer on my own!

Our new class blog is found at:

http://year42013.harrisprimaryschool.net/

I will be using the new blog from now on as I can access it within school. (Previously I could only update from home.)

Look out for your children's work and photos on there, just as I had promised!

Thank you!

Mrs A :)

Class Talks

We really look forward to the first of our class talks this week.

It can be 'nerve wracking' for your child beforehand but please be assured that they have a super audience, who is very keen to listen to their topic.

Encourage your child to plan their talk themselves and remember to let us know before the date if you wish to bring in large objects.

Feel free to email photographs, slide shows or clips to school.

Year 4 are aiming higher this year!

Music Lessons:

Music Lessons

On Monday the class will be choosing the brass instruments that they will be playing for the year with Mrs Hunt and Mr Bell in our Wider Opportunities (Wopps) music lessons.

We have trumpets, trombones and baritone horns.

Trumpets- these are small and easy to carry but are the hardest to play

Trombones- great fun to play, you need to be tall with long arms for one of these

Baritone Horn- the easiest to play, quite big to carry when it's in the case

Which one will you choose?

Bags

Please remember that Rucksacks are too big for our cubby holes! School book bags are best! House points are being awarded for those children bringing in a school book bag.

Reading Books

Just a quick note about reading books:

We are aiming to move children through our classroom library shelves at the rate of one shelf per half term. This is to encourage children to read a wider range of books, possibly ones that they wouldn't usually choose and also to read for pleasure. (It is sometimes nice to read an 'easier' book, if it is one your child finds amusing/interesting.)

Your child should be changing their library book once a week with Mrs Proctor. The school operates a 'Junior Librarian' scheme to entice your child with different genre.

Happy Reading!!

A great first week back.

We had a super first week in Year 4. Mrs Hunt and I are enjoying settling the children in to their new class. It was lovely to meet you all on our 'Meet the Teacher' afternoons.

Just a note - P.E. will be on a Friday, rather than a Thursday. Timetables can be rather tricky, but we have now ensured that our pupils will receive 2 hours of P.E. each week.

Any questions, do not hesitate to pop in.

This Term's topic - 'Horrible History'

Interested in Horrible History?

See it come alive at Gawthorpe Hall!

Should you go, you may just catch one of your year 4 teachers in costume!
An authentic and interesting journey back in time.
Go and enjoy it!
